How the CCVA methodology works

The CCVA combines information from six components to generate a single vulnerability score for each managed access area. Each component is built from several variables that capture exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity in a consistent way.

Putting the pieces together

Each component is normalized to a common 0–5 scale and then combined using weights that reflect its relative importance in the overall assessment. Exposure and sensitivity components tend to increase the vulnerability score, while adaptive capacity components help reduce it.

In practice, the full methodology includes detailed rules for data cleaning, handling missing values, and aggregating variables. As we add more data sources to this platform, these rules help keep results comparable across regions and time.
